THE STORY OF SHPORTS:
Shports.com was founded July 12th, 2006 by Rob Shaw. A Vanderbilt University graduate, Shaw has participated in fantasy leagues since 2000.
Growing up in Long Island, NY, Shaw was an avid baseball and basketball fan studying the statistics off the back of baseball cards. After college Shaw sought to make his obsession with sports a profession rather than a hobby. A road trip from New York to Texas involving stops at 22 stations in 17 small markets from New Bern N.C. to Lake Charles, Louisiana, eventually landed Shaw an internship at WJHG (NBC affiliate) in Panama City.
Two months into his internship, Shaw was promoted to the weekend sports anchor chair. Four months later Shaw transitioned to WCTV in Tallahassee, FL on February 2nd, 2005. Shaw became a weekday sports anchor and sports / news reporter and in September of 2006 pitched Shports Talk, a 30-minute Fantasy Sports show. Shaw's current role is Sports Anchor / Director at WCTV.
Shports Talk aired as a pilot on the Tallahassee CBS affiliate on August 26th. The first cast aired as a weekly program on September 10th, 2006. Originally scheduled for the MyTV Network affiliate, before ten episodes the show reached its current slot on the CBS affiliate at 11:30 AM on Sundays before the NFL Pregame Show. Shports Talk remains on the MyTV Network at 10:30 on Sundays.
Rob Shaw is the VP of Content and Minority Owner of Fantasyfanatics.com. The fantasy sports community-based leader.
